To Teach, To Learn, To Share

Artist Statement

Drawing, painting and ceramics was my outlet from academics in secondary school.
Wildlife artist and teacher, Robert Bateman, and his passion for travel and nature was my inspiration to pursue art in university. I have taken art history, painting, drawing, ceramic and sculptural courses through Waterloo University, U of T, Fleming College at the Haliburton School of Fine Art and Zim Art Gallery. Local potters, and the Kawartha Potters Guild have, also, been invaluable in my journey to have fun and learn.

Retirement from teaching secondary art in Peterborough has freed me to continue my artistic endeavours in painting, drawing and ceramics.

Presently, my goal is to explore handbuilding techniques that combine function and themes from art history, travels and nature. Also, I want to apply my watercolour skills through underglazing stoneware pottery, wall plaques and boxes. Homes for my work include Saskatchewan, Australia, British Columbia, Florida and of course the Kawarthas.
