Anne Young

Artist’s Statement

Anne Young has been making functional and decorative Pottery since in her rural studio since 1976. Anne’s pieces are designed to appeal to a variety of tastes. Anne’s work is easily recognized by the spirited swirled handles and colourful glazes in blue, green, white & pink in many combinations on her clay pieces. Among the many unique functional porcelain pieces created on the potter’s wheel are goblets, decanters, bird baths, bird feeders, apple bakers, canister sets, bowls, plates, casseroles, chip & dip plates, mugs, tea pots and vases. More whimsical pieces include Raku fired fish, vases, mirrors and clocks.

In the late summer and fall, Anne does a series of functional work with fresh Queen Anne’s Lace pressed into the clay. This leaves a perfect impression of the Queen Anne’s Lace which is then stained dark blue with cobalt carbonate and a clear glaze is then applied over the whole piece.
