First KPG Fundraiser- A Sold Out Success!

Thank you for those involved with KPG's Celebrate Ceramics Fundraiser
The Kawartha Potters Guild’s first ever fundraiser, Celebrate Ceramics, was an outstanding success! This sold out event featured 68 pieces of pottery donated from members of our guild and from potters across Ontario. All these pieces are now residing in the homes of those who attended. In addition to the pottery, there was live music provided by Rob Phillips and outstanding appetizers! So many compliments on this event were received from those attending, with everyone smiling!

Holding an event such as this requires a lot of support and it would not have been the success it was without the help of so many volunteers! Many people were involved and all their efforts are greatly appreciated!  Thank you to all the guild volunteers who helped with organizing the event, setting up, preparing and serving the delicious appetizers.

A special Thank You is extended to our community sponsors who with their support allowed the guild to host this fundraiser in the manner the committee had intended creating a truly memorable evening!

The funds raised through this event will help the Kawartha Potters Guild to continue to bring the beauty of ceramic arts to the community while supporting ceramic artists of all kinds from beginners to budding artists to seasoned potters!

Thanks again for supporting the Kawartha Potters Guild!!!

You could choose from many beautiful, one-of-a-kind items including this Teresa Dunlop creation.  This beautiful basket exhibits Teresa’s skill as a ceramic artist as the body, base and double-handle are wheel thrown as separate pieces, then altered and assembled. This piece has been wood fired, giving it depth of colour followed by sandblasting which makes the piece supple to the touch.

Teresa Dunlop is an Ontario based ceramic artist. Her first career was as an elementary school teacher where she enjoyed teaching and facilitating the student’s creative energies. Teresa went back to school, completing the Craft and Design Ceramics program at Sheridan College, followed by 3 years as artist in residence in the Ceramic Studio at Harbourfront Centre in Toronto. In 2017, she opened her own studio in Newmarket Ontario where she creates finely crafted objects intended to enhance daily living. Teresa also offers classes and workshops, including hosting a workshop with the Kawartha Potters Guild.

Celebrate Ceramics Fundraiser!

Are you looking for an evening with great entertainment, refreshments, good company and the ability to go home with an individual piece of pottery?  Look no further, do we have the event for you.

Celebrate Ceramics is a fundraising event for the Kawartha Potters Guild.  Join us on Friday April 8, 2022 at the Lion’s Club in Peterborough, Ontario.  Tickets are $75.00.  Everyone who purchases an Event Ticket will be entered into a draw. Throughout the evening, Event Tickets will be drawn at random. When the ticket holder’s number is drawn, that person can choose one pottery item from those displayed to take home! If that is not enough, all ticket holders will receive a complimentary glass of wine, refreshments and entertainment.  You can bring a guest for $25.00, but they will not be eligible for the pottery draw.

To support this fundraiser, the Kawartha Potters Guild has received donations of pottery from our Guild members and from potters throughout Ontario including Teresa Dunlop, Naomi Clement, Monika Schaefer, Anne Chambers, Thom Lambert, Thomas Aitken and Kate Hyde. The Guild has also received sponsorship from a number of local businesses including Empirical Assessment Solutions, Summit Terrace, Peterborough Gardens, AYA Kitchen Designs, and Cornerstone family Dentistry.  We are most grateful for the support from our local businesses as well as other Ontario potters.

All funds raised will assist the growth of the ceramic arts community by helping to promote and foster the creativity of ceramic artists and the ceramic arts community. Funds raised will also support ceramic arts education for all ages and skills in Peterborough and the Kawarthas.

So come join us for a fun social evening, admire (and take home) some really stunning ceramic works.  If you have any questions about purchasing tickets (they are available in our Pottery Shop), please call us at 705-742-4979 or contact our Administrator.
