6 Week Teen Hand Building – Thurs Aft – Alexandra – Mar/Apr

Engage with clay during our new after school class time for teens! This 6-week course will begin with the fundamentals of hand building and introduce students to the artistic potential of working with clay. Students will learn the basic principals of working with clay, how to develop creative projects independently, and all about the community building potential of clay. Students and parents should expect learning outcomes of
understanding basic principals of hand building, broadened understanding of clay as a medium, confidence articulating their creative vision, and at least 5 completed objects.
Students will be encouraged to bring their own unique ideas and goals about what objects they would like to build for student-centric projects. All students are also welcome to bring their questions and goals for building an artist portfolio to their instructor. Specific skills students will hone are wedging, sculpting, building functional forms by hand (both coil and slab building methods), and painting with glaze. Through
mentorship from a practicing artist who predominantly works with hand building methods, students will gain insight into the unlimited potential of hand building to realize their creative goals and practice their clay skills.
This class is for 14-17 year olds. If the student has previous clay experience and they are younger, please contact our Adminstrator . It runs Thursday, late afternoons from March 6 – April 10, 2025, 4:00 – 6:30 p.m.. Cost is $295.00 (tax exempt) per student.
Covid Policy:
Face masks are no longer a requirement in the Guild. KPG space is mask friendly and we do encourage you to wear a mask when working near others.
We request that if you feel sick to any degree, that you do not come to class, and to notify the Guild or your teacher. Arrangements for make up classes, in this circumstance can be made through your teacher, where possible.
Refund Policy:
No refund will be given if notice of withdrawal is not received at least 10 days in advance of the start date. All refunds are subject to an administration fee of 20%. Any refund can be transferred to another class or purchase of items in the Pottery Shop (via a gift certificate) at full value.
