2020 Clay Mentorship Program and Exhibition at the Kawartha Potters Guild – Meeting 3
KPG membership and previous clay experience is required to participate in this mentorship program. The program will give you design & technical guidance to help develop your skills and create successful well crafted pieces. You will explore ideas and various techniques and develop your strengths in what you enjoy creating with clay. There will be skill sharing and feedback from peers as well as one on one advise from the mentor. All participants will meet together at the Kawartha Potters Guild on these listed dates and mentorship assistance will be also be available at the Guild on Tuesdays from 4-5 pm with arranged appointments. Please bring a notebook so you may record your ideas, progress and the ceramic information you will discover in this
mentorship program. An exhibit with pieces from all participant and their mentorship statement will be on display at the Kawartha Potters Guild during November 2020.

Meeting 1: March 8th, 2020 : 11am-3pm – What type of clay work do you want to pursue? What do you enjoy creating? What are your strengths? Please bring samples of your work and your ideas of what you would like to explore. Setting your learning goals.
Meeting 2: April 26th, 2020 : 11am-3pm – Bring the initial clay pieces that you have made from suggestions at Meeting 1 for constructive group critiques on design and technical improvements. Demonstration.
Meeting 3: June 21st, 2020 : 11am-3pm – Developing a series of clay pieces with your designs. Discussing what is successful and what else could be done to accomplish your goals. Demonstration.
Meeting 4: Sept 27th, 2020 : 11am-3pm – Fine tuning your most enjoyed, successful pieces. Demonstration.
Meeting 5: October 25th, 2020 : 11am-3pm – Selection of clay pieces for the Exhibition. Writing your mentorship statement. Setting up the Exhibition to run in November 2020 at the Guild.
Students to provide all materials & kiln firings. Clay with firings may be purchased at the Guild.
