Clay & Play Summer Day Camp

Covid19 Update – May 30, 2020

KPG staff and summer day camp volunteers have been closely monitoring federal and provincial updates on COVID-19.  Be assured that this summer’s day camp procedures and protocols will be developed in concert with Peterborough Public Health, in accordance with health and safety guidelines in effect at the time.  Physical distancing will likely reduce the number of places available and affect some activities, such as throwing on the wheel. We fortunately have a very large, well ventilated indoor space and direct access to green space.  Attendance will be based on date of registration.

KPG is continuing to offer the opportunity to register your child/children with a deposit of $25.00.  Please contact our Administrator, Donna directly to request a space.  She will arrange for an e-transfer or credit card payment.  You will then receive our standard registration form by email to fill and return, preferably, by email.  When we have clear guidelines and permission to proceed, you will be notified.  The number of campers allowed will be reduced to ensure safety.  Cost per camper may need to be increased.  Please note that the $25.00 deposit will be refunded only if camp cannot run.  If you are registering more than one child or for more than one week, we ask at this time that you pay the full $25.00 for each child per week.  We hope this helps with your summer planning, and look forward to being able to offer classes again.  Please stay safe.

This year, camp will run from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m for 7 – 12 year olds. Each day at camp varies as the campers work on different stages of the clay process. A new creative activity each day! With one counselor for every 4 campers, your child will be well looked after and have lots of support.

Your child will discover the fascinating qualities of clay and explore some of the many possibilities pottery offers, learning hand building techniques as well as having the opportunity to throw on the potter’s wheel. With one counselor for every 4 campers, and a maximum of 12 campers, your child will be well looked after
and have lots of support. Work to take home includes small thrown bowls or cups, pinch pot creations, decorative pieces, and slab trays or mugs. Each day at camp varies as the campers work on different stages of the clay process. Additional art activities, games and outdoor play round out the day. Each Thursday a guest artist will introduce a special craft or skill; gourding, hand weaving, dance, and quilting are just a sample.
Register your child for fun and friendship, and a new creative activity each day!

We are offering five weeks of our arts based camp this year during the following weeks:
