When the KPG was just a baby guild, there was always hope for a permanent space. Members wanted to share ideas, suggestions, tips and techniques…and for beginners, get that extra needed practice!
With the opening of our own Kawartha Potters Guild studio and gallery in 2012, the idea of what we now call Saturday Clay Club became a reality. It has been filling that specific need for those without their own studios and has been the perfect scenario for guild members to work outside of a structured class, where we can all share, gain knowledge and have fun with the clay artists which make up this fantastic guild.
Saturday Clay Club has been running for many years now, and it’s a fun place to be on Saturday mornings between 8:30 and 11:30 am. There have been lots of new friendships formed, and a camaraderie in clay that is certainly undeniable!
Here are some further details for those interested:
- Saturday Clay Club happens most Saturday mornings – during COVID 8:30 am to 11:30 am. Cathy will advise weekly of any date changes.
- 3 hour fee is $10 pay-as-you-go, per card-carrying KPG member (not including taxes). Pre-requisite is that you must have taken a full set of classes, or have previous clay experience. This is not a class, but rather an opportunity to work independently. New attendees will be reviewed with Cathy prior to attendance.
- Bringing your own tools is encouraged, or you can purchase a set in our Pottery Shop. You will have the use of the equipment in the studio, including the wheels and slab roller (with mandatory instruction). You can bring your own stoneware clay, or buy KPG clay with firing and glazing included in the price.
- Bring your own towel, apron etc.
If you’d like to join this group, contact Cathy Allen and she will add you to her Saturday Clay Club e-mail list!
