Introductory Sgraffito Workshop with Cathy Allen- March 15th
Ready to take your surface decoration to a new level?!
In this full day sgraffito introductory workshop, you will begin with learning the basics of slip making using clay body and stain, followed by slip and underglaze application on your pieces. Black slip will be provided.
We will go into some detail with some easy image transfer techniques too (including use of stencils and making your own). Various carving tools can be used for sgraffito techniques too, and those will be covered as well.
This session will include elements and tips that go into making a successful design before you start carving your pieces. Students will explore sgraffito techniques using both slips and underglazes on some test pieces before diving in. Some of your own flat and cylindrical leatherhard pieces will beneeded for this workshop as well.
