Bio:
Cathy Allen has been an avid part time potter since 1991. She is a founding and active member of the Kawartha Potters Guild and has received a lifetime membership for her dedication. In 2017 she participated in Fusion’s new “Creative Directions” mentorship program which resulted in an exhibit at the Robert McGlaughlin Gallery in Oshawa. In Feb 2018 she travelled to Icheon Korea with other guild members to study with Korean Master potters where her ceramic work was tremendously enriched. She has attended countless conferences and educational opportunities over the years, and now regularly teaches surface treatment workshops and decorative methods at the KPG. She is also the host for the popular Saturday Clay Club. “Cathy strives to make decorative functional pottery that enhances and beautifies our everyday lives. Simple carving techniques and patterns on her functional wheel thrown pottery give way to the richness of life that is all around us.
