Many of the potters that are in the show have full time jobs or waited until they were retired until they could indulge their passion for clay. Our studios are generally in our basements, sheds and garages. Priya’s studio is in her basement and here you can see hers in the run up for the Christmas sale. She says this is her “messy studio” but she hasn’t seen mine! This looks positively spotless.

Susan McDonald hard at work
Susan McDonald is in so many shows at the moment, that she must have to work continuously throughout the night! Here is an image of her studio in preparation for our own Christmas show.
Fran Brownley
Fran is a new member of the guild and this year is her first in the Christmas Sale. Here is Fran on her wheel and burning a feather to a pot.
Saturday Clay Club
Our Saturday Clay Club has been running for over a year now, and it is a big success. For members only, you can come to the guild on a Saturday morning from 9:30 – 12:30. The cost is $10 per session but it is a good way to share your ideas, or work through a problem, or just throw in the company of like-minded people. Here are some photos of the last clay club. Peterborough Library Display
We have a display at the Peterborough Library every year and this year’s display is gorgeous. It is the work of the participants of our Christmas Sale and is a sneak peek of what some of the potters/artists will be selling this year. A big thank you to Liz Sine, George Stewart and Lillian Forester, who organized the display, as it looks great!
New work from Brenda Sullivan
Here are two new pieces from Brenda.
Margrit’s Studio
Last year when the doors first open for our sale, the woman that had been waiting for ten minutes outside (we let her and others into the vestibule to keep warm) was desperate to be the first to find the table of the person that “did this piece” and was it in the show. The piece that she was referring to was a platter with fish on it. And it was done by our talented Margrit Beesley. Here are some photos of work in progress in Margrit’s studio. See, she has made another of her popular platters, so no fighting!

Susan McDonald’s Christmas Decorations
Here are Susan’s Christmas Decorations. These are Raku, and come in some beautiful colours!
Priya Harding reveals her first firing for a while
Priya is getting ready for the sale as well. Here she is unloading her kiln and it is always like Christmas (not sure whether you will get a present or coal) when you open the lid. She has some beautiful pieces here, and she’ll be at our sale!
Cathy Allen loading her kiln
Cathy Allen is the artist on the front of this year’s advertising for our sale. Here are some images of her work out of the kiln and ready to glaze for the show. Everything is so colourful!
We are so looking forward to seeing everyone again!
