To Teach, To Learn, To Share

Peterborough Garden Show

We had a great time participating in the Peterborough Garden Show this past weekend (April 8-10, 8 – 4pm at the Evinrude Centre). We demonstrate throwing and showing off some of what the Guild and the ACP can supply for one’s gardens.
Thank you to all that attended, and then came around to the gallery to shop!  We are happy to see everyone.

Heritage Day at Buckhorn

A great experience for us at Heritage Day at the Buckhorn Community Centre on Feb. 15th. Lots of demonstrations of heritage crafts both inside and outside the building, as well as outdoor activities for the kids.

June Goodwin did her usual magic with the children, creating lots of small bowls. George Stewart finished the day with the kids (and one adult) making bowls and a flower pot. Vicky Kilner and Lillian Forester had the opportunity of talking with the parents and grandparents about the guild and the gallery, as well as promoting the kids camp this summer. A very successful day with plenty of happy faces on the children.

Working on our Christmas Wares!

Heathyr Francis and Colin Hoag are the team that make up Place in Nature Studios.  They are working hard at creating some magical toad houses which will delight and enchant you.  Below are Heathyr and Colin working to make some pieces for our upcoming Christmas show.   And below that is a video of a Raku in progress!

As Hearthyr explains about their workspace.

As you can see, we work around the clock in our sun porch and garage. This is getting increasingly difficult at this time of year with less and less daylight and colder temperatures. We are looking to migrate indoors or fix up the sun porch so we can work til December or so in that space. I think January and February might be just too cold much work out there.

Raku – great music!

Open House a Fun Event

What a busy few months the Kawartha Potters Guild has had.  We have moved an entire shop (George Stewart’s Jackson Creek Pottery) to our new location.  Set it up again with fabulous studio space and gallery.  Had two Family Clay Days and numerous other classes.  Held our annual Christmas Show and Sale and just had our Meet and Greet Open House to introduce ourselves to the neighbourhood.

It was a fun and busy few hours and we thank everyone who came out.  If you are looking for a last minute gift for the special someone who loves hand made gifts made not only in Canada, but in the Peterborough and Kawartha areas, come to our gallery and look around.

Merry Christmas!
